SKA-VLBI Workshop in Korea

October 21 - October 25, 2024

Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI), Daejeon, Korea

Ramada Deajeon Hotel, Daejeon, Korea

Rationale

As the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) project moves into its deployment phase, it is a timely moment to revisit discussions on SKA-VLBI (Very Long Baseline Interferometry). VLBI is a field where the Korean radio astronomy community possesses expertise, and with Korea's participation in the SKA project from 2025, there is a growing interest in SKA-VLBI within the Korean SKA group.

In light of these developments, we are organizing a workshop designed to

- assess the current status of SKA-VLBI,

- evaluate future directions for SKA-VLBI, considering the latest scientific and technological advancements,

- explore potential roles and contributions of the Korean group in SKA-VLBI initiatives.

We aim to bring together experts in SKA-VLBI, including key figures from the Jumping JIVE "VLBI with SKA" project and the SKA-VLBI Working Group. The workshop will feature a series of seminars along with contributed talks, complemented by pre and post discussion sessions.

We encourage all those interested in SKA-VLBI to participate in this workshop.
