Rationale
The Square Kilometre Array (SKA) is currently under construction, with the Science Verification and the Cycle 0 phases expected to begin in the near future. Researchers in Korea have been actively contributing to the SKA through various Science Working Groups (SWGs) and recent SKA-VLBI activities. Korea will also formally join the SKA Observatory, further strengthening its role within the global SKA community. These developments represent an important and exciting milestone for the Korean SKA community as preparations advance toward the forthcoming phases of SKA operations and data exploitation.
We are pleased to invite you to the SKA Korea Summer Workshop 2026, which will provide an excellent opportunity for the community to come together and discuss key topics, including current and future SKA-related science, progress on the Korean SKA data center (SKA Regional Centre), strategies for SDC4 participation, and future human resource development program. Invited and contributed talks, together with group discussions, are planned to foster the exchange of ideas and help coordinate key SKA-related activities for the coming year. Researchers from all areas of astronomy and related fields, not limited to radio astronomy, are warmly encouraged to attend and contribute to discussions on the future steps of SKA science and data readiness in Korea.
*** In this Summer Workshop, we particularly encourage all students who have been involved in the SKA Korea research funding programs to present their research progress and related activities. We aim to accommodate as many presentations as possible to showcase and highlight research projects being conducted within the community. Presentations on new initiatives, ongoing projects, or even very preliminary results are highly welcome. Contributions from all other participants are also more than welcome.
